Tim Cook, CEO Apple, paid a visit to the Indonesian Minister of Defense and president-elect for 2024-2029, Prabowo Subianto, at the Indonesian Ministry of Defense office on Wednesday (April 17). The meeting, which started around 12:45 PM WIB and ended at 1:50 PM, involved discussions on various topics, including the ongoing collaboration between Apple and the Indonesian government.
In a letter dated March 21, Tim congratulated Prabowo on his election victory and expressed Apple’s commitment to investing in Indonesia’s technology ecosystem. Tim commended the government’s support for skill development and innovation, particularly noting the success of the three Apple development academies in Surabaya, Jakarta, and Batam.
During the meeting, there was a friendly exchange between Prabowo and Tim, with Prabowo even inquiring about Tim’s dietary preferences. At the end of the meeting, Prabowo extended an invitation for dinner, which Tim gladly accepted.
The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Donny Ermawan Taufanto, were also present at the meeting. Prior to meeting Prabowo, Tim had a discussion with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the State Palace regarding Apple’s investment plans in Indonesia.
