Prabowo Subianto Meets with UK Chief of Defence Staff to Explore Strengthening RI-UK Defense Collaboration

Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto recently welcomed a visit from the Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, at the Ministry of Defense in Jakarta. The meeting took place on Thursday, May 30th.

Prabowo warmly greeted Tony and the two engaged in discussions about enhancing bilateral defense cooperation between Indonesia and the UK. This discussion followed up on talks from Prabowo’s previous visit to London in March, where he met with the UK Defense Minister.

Prabowo also highlighted the potential for cooperation in developing an advanced, modern, and independent defense industry, expressing his view of the UK as an important partner for Indonesia in the field of defense.

Various significant matters and areas of cooperation were discussed during the meeting, including priority areas for cooperation that would be beneficial for Indonesia, as well as potential future collaborative projects.

The meeting concluded with Prabowo presenting traditional gifts such as a keris and a pin from the Ministry of Defense, while Tony also gave a personal gift to Prabowo. Officials from the Ministry of Defense were also in attendance, including the Acting Secretary-General, the Acting Director General of Strategic Defense, the Head of Defense Facility Agency, and the Acting Head of Defense Infrastructure Agency.
