Several Red and White Cabinet ministers convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the plight of PT Sritex employees who were recently laid off. The primary focus of the meeting was a directive from Prabowo for the ministers to come up with solutions for the affected workers. Attendees included Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the workers and stressed the immediate need to address the challenges faced by PT Sritex after declaring bankruptcy in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new work scheme within the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s endeavors to potentially rehire former Sritex employees in the upcoming two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s dedication to offering support and guidance is anticipated to bring relief to the laid-off PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive appropriate layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of identifying investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, ultimately leading to the reemployment of the displaced workers. This strategic move aims to bring stability to the affected employees and provide a resolution to their current predicament.
