French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, emphasizing the genuine and strong cooperation that exists. During his visit, Macron met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, where they discussed the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership in various fields such as the economy, technology, security, and culture.
The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have spanned 75 years, with significant progress being made in recent years. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and highlighted the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition.
Cultural collaboration was also a focal point of Macron’s visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the growing friendship between the two nations. Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome received from President Prabowo and expressed optimism for ongoing joint efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
