President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the lives of the less fortunate through various key programs aimed at not only addressing current needs but also creating opportunities for future generations to overcome poverty. Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono emphasized the President’s commitment to restoring dignity to those living in poverty and breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty through initiatives like Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG. These programs are designed to provide education, support village cooperatives, and offer free nutritious meals to uplift those in need.

The Sekolah Rakyat program, in particular, aims to disrupt the cycle of poverty by providing education to children born into impoverished families. President Prabowo’s administration has a core focus on eradicating poverty by setting ambitious goals of eliminating extreme poverty by 2026 and reducing the national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029 through social interventions and community empowerment efforts.

Senior Expert Adita Irawati from the Presidential Communications Office highlighted the administration’s three-pronged strategy to combat poverty, including the People’s School initiative, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The CKG health program has already reached 10 million Indonesians and targets reaching 50 million by the end of the year, particularly focusing on schoolgirls to improve health outcomes for millions of students.

The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives aim to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and empower communities to become self-sufficient. President Prabowo will officially launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program with a goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide on July 21, 2025. These initiatives offer a model for village empowerment, enabling communities to meet their own needs and generate livelihoods independently.
