The flagship Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program introduced by President Prabowo Subianto has garnered international recognition and is now being discussed in global diplomatic circles. The program, which focuses on providing free nutritious meals to schoolchildren, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers, has not only been successful but has also captured the interest of other nations.
President Prabowo, speaking at the closing ceremony of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Congress in Solo, Central Java, highlighted the widespread interest in the MBG program from international audiences. He mentioned that during his trips abroad, foreign officials inquire about the program, showcasing its international relevance.
Since its inception, the MBG program has benefitted over six million individuals, primarily children and pregnant women. The President expressed confidence in the program’s rapid growth, with the government aiming to reach 20 million beneficiaries by August 2025, and potentially exceeding that target.
The MBG program plays a vital role in the government’s efforts to combat malnutrition and nurture a healthy future generation. Moreover, it serves as a boost for local food producers and vendors, while also promoting social equity and early human development.
