President Prabowo Subianto has set a remarkable goal to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children throughout Indonesia by the end of 2025. This announcement was made during the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) at the Jakarta Convention Center, where Prabowo emphasized the importance and urgency of this initiative. Sharing a heartfelt experience from his visit to Central Java, he recounted the overwhelming demand for the program that he witnessed along his journey.

During his trip from Solo to Klaten, Prabowo encountered schoolchildren and residents along the road who were passionately requesting nutritious meals. This encounter deeply affected him, especially upon realizing that only 6.7 million children had received MBG meals at that time. Prompted by this, Prabowo directed his team to expedite the program implementation, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August, with a larger target of 82.9 million children by December 2025.

The ambitious nature of this initiative has garnered international attention, with global leaders expressing interest in Indonesia’s progress. Despite the challenges ahead, Prabowo remains committed to the cause, emphasizing the importance of delivering results to match the optimism surrounding the program. The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a key component of Prabowo’s broader vision to address child hunger, malnutrition, and educational disparities, ensuring that every child has the necessary nourishment to thrive and succeed.
