The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has taken action by suspending the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after discovering substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, announced the temporary closure of the affected SPPG units in Jakarta. The agency is working with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to investigate the incident and ensure the health of impacted students. BGN expressed regret to the students, parents, schools, and all parties involved in the discovery of the unfit food in the MBG Program, stressing its zero-tolerance policy for negligence in food procurement and distribution. The health and safety of MBG recipients remain a top priority for the agency, which is closely coordinating with local government authorities to respond swiftly and effectively. Measures to address the issue include stricter partner screening, improved hygiene standards, enhanced supply chain monitoring, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on expert recommendations. The BGN is committed to upholding food safety standards and ensuring the MBG Program delivers its intended benefits without compromising health, with the support and vigilance of all stakeholders.
