Growing up without a father hasn’t hindered Andra Farizki Ramdhani’s progress as a student. Raised by his mother, the sole provider for the family, Andra, a 10th-grade student at People’s High School (SRMA 10) in South Jakarta, has found a renewed sense of hope through the People’s School initiative initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
Despite facing financial challenges, Andra expresses gratitude for the opportunities provided by the People’s School for him to receive a quality education. The boarding school experience has been a mix of challenges and rewards for Andra as he navigates life away from his family. He finds solace in the lively atmosphere and camaraderie among his friends, making the dormitory feel like a second home.
Andra’s daily routine at SRMA 10 is packed with morning prayers, exercise, and classes, with evenings spent checking in with his mother and sharing meals with his peers. While the schedule may seem repetitive, Andra draws strength and joy from his friendships, particularly with his roommates Fatir and Reza.
The well-equipped facilities at SRMA 10 have exceeded Andra’s expectations, providing a conducive learning environment that keeps him engaged and focused. He actively participates in extracurricular activities, excelling in his favorite subject, informatics, while also pursuing his passion for judo.
Despite the absence of a father figure, Andra remains determined to pursue his dreams, aspiring to become a judo athlete and further his education at Defense University (Unhan) as per his mother’s wishes. He credits his mother for unwavering support and guidance, emphasizing the importance of her prayers and love in his journey.
Grateful for the financial support provided by the People’s School, Andra acknowledges the opportunities it offers to disadvantaged children eager to learn. He views the People’s School as a beacon of hope, eliminating barriers to education and empowering students to achieve their aspirations. With a strong resolve and his mother’s blessings, Andra believes that his dreams are within reach, paving the way for a brighter future ahead.
