President Prabowo Subianto has made a commitment to lead Indonesia’s state budget (APBN) towards a zero-deficit position. This pledge was announced during his speech on the 2026 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. The draft budget for 2026 includes state spending of Rp 3,786.5 trillion and projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion, with a targeted fiscal deficit of Rp 638.8 trillion, equivalent to 2.48% of GDP. Prabowo emphasized the importance of efficiency measures to minimize the deficit and expressed his hope to achieve a deficit-free budget in the future. He called for the support of all political forces in Indonesia to eliminate budget leakages. The government plans to enhance creative and innovative financing to reduce reliance on the APBN for development funding. Prabowo highlighted the need for flexible budget management, revenue optimization, and improved spending quality, as well as financing innovation. Efforts will also be made to boost tax revenues, maintain the investment climate, and ensure fiscal incentives support strategic economic activities. Additionally, the management of natural resources will be strengthened to benefit the people’s prosperity. Every state asset will be managed efficiently to generate added value and contribute positively to the welfare of the population.
