President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized his dedication to revamping Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by putting an end to the practice of providing bonuses, known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. This commitment was highlighted during his keynote address at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 at ICE BSD in Tangerang. Prabowo emphasized the mismanagement and dispersion of SOE assets over the years. By consolidating these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has established a significant global financial presence, with a sovereign fund that ranks fifth globally. However, Prabowo criticized the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially when companies are experiencing losses, deeming it fundamentally unjust. He underlined the importance of eliminating these bonuses as part of a broader reform initiative to cultivate integrity and professionalism within state-owned enterprises. Prabowo also made it clear that those who oppose these reforms will not be tolerated, as there are many young individuals prepared to assume the responsibility for change.
