Jakarta — Political analyst and lecturer at Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, observes a continuity of public trust and confidence from President Joko Widodo’s administration to the forthcoming Prabowo Subianto administration.

This continuation is evident from a recent Kompas Research survey which shows the transition of government from Jokowi to Prabowo, grounded in various factors.

Ujang notes that the survey reflects high public confidence based on the resolution of numerous national issues such as economic and health challenges, which have been managed effectively during Jokowi’s tenure and are expected to continue under Prabowo.

“The remarkable confidence of the Indonesian public in Prabowo-Gibran is commendable as they are expected to lead Indonesia towards a prosperous, just, and internationally recognized nation,” Ujang told reporters on Saturday (June 22).

He believes this achievement provides a significant momentum for Prabowo-Gibran to manage and further empower Indonesia, aiming for societal prosperity within the next five years following their inauguration on October 20.

“The public is very proud that Prabowo-Gibran will be capable of bringing about the desired changes and improvements within the next five years,” he explained.

In this context, Ujang also notes that the Indonesian community is eager for Prabowo-Gibran to continue the legacy of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration.

According to a Kompas Research survey spanning the two terms of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration, public satisfaction was consistently positive, with satisfaction levels peaking towards the end of their tenure.

“Currently, no less than three-quarters of respondents are satisfied with President Jokowi’s performance. Despite some ongoing issues, the level of trust in the government remains high,” Kompas Research noted in a survey article published on Saturday (June 22) on Kompas.id.

Kompas Research states that based on these findings, the public believes such evaluations and demands are expected to continue with the new administration.

From Kompas Research findings, 83.6% of the public are confident that the Prabowo-Gibran administration will elevate the nation’s dignity internationally.

Furthermore, 83.6% believe the new administration will strengthen national defense, 67.6% are confident in increased value addition from natural resource processing (downstream processing), 68.5% are confident in enhanced national economic growth, 62.4% believe in the creation of new job opportunities, and 69% expect the realization of food sovereignty.

Additionally, 57.3% are confident in the implementation of a free nutritious meal program, 72.4% in the completion of the new capital’s development, and 64.8% in the eradication of corruption in the Prabowo-Gibran government.

This survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews by Kompas Research from May 27 to June 2, 2024. A total of 1,200 respondents were randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method across 38 provinces in Indonesia.

Using this method, at a 95 percent confidence level, the research’s margin of error is approximately 2.83 percent under simple random sampling conditions. The survey was fully funded by Kompas Daily (PT Kompas Media Nusantara).
